AGENT BOOKS SECOND ACT AS REHAB COUNSELOR
Yep….that’s what the headlines said in Variety in 2003. Had someone told me that I would be leaving the gilded soundstages of Hollywood to work with substance abusers and their loved ones, I would have thought they had been hit on the head by the sound boom. Yet, here I am and loving it!
My name is Carole Bennett, MA and for the last several years I have been living in Santa Barbara, California working in the field of substance abuse. I have entered the blogosphere to address frequently asked questions for family members who are living with substance abusers.
I received my Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University and completed my internship at the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Carpinteria, California. Upon completion, I was hired as head counselor and during that time started my own private practice; Family Recovery Solutions, which offers personal, empathetic and safe counseling for the loved one’s of the substance abuser.
I counsel clients in person in Santa Barbara and nationwide via phone and web. Through my practice, I developed a unique and successful approach for the loved one to process the frustrating and painful actions of the substance abuser. Specific road maps of action and detailed communication exercises have made my counseling technique successful for those that are looking to regain control of their own life with dignity and respect while learning the boundaries of love with their substance abuser.
